The City Council is the city’s highest decision-making body. The council is responsible for Vantaa city’s operations and decides on the budget. The City Council and the City Board are elected in municipal elections held every four years.
The City Council’s meetings and information sessions are open to the public. Residents are welcome to attend and follow the discussions and decision-making in person. Since 2013, it has also been possible to follow the council’s meetings and information sessions via live broadcasts on Vantaa Channel: https://vantaakanava.fi/category/international/ (This page is experiencing some technical issues at present.)
My themes in Vantaa:
LET’S PRESERVE VANTAA’S FORESTS!
Forests in Vantaa should not be cut down – new development should primarily be planned on wastelands, underutilized old industrial areas, and similar sites.
MORE FAMILY HOUSING!
I promise to work towards building more family apartments in Vantaa instead of small studio flats.
ENSURING SUFFICIENT RESOURCES FOR DAYCARE CENTERS AND SCHOOLS!
Learning outcomes have declined, schools are restless, and both teachers and early childhood educators are exhausted. We should introduce flexible teaching groups and ensure that non-native speakers acquire proficiency in Finnish or Swedish.
GENUINE CITIZEN PARTICIPATION IN DECISION-MAKING!
We must utilize various participation methods to ensure that residents’ voices are truly heard in decision-making.
My themes in Wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava:
FASTER ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE!
People must be able to receive care quickly, and private service providers should also be utilized to reduce queues. The most important thing is to get treatment on time. It is much more efficient and cost-effective to invest in preventive care rather than allowing problems to worsen.
FASTER RESPONSE TO CALL REQUESTS
Call requests should be answered within a few hours, not several days.
IMPLEMENT DIGITAL APPOINTMENT BOOKING
Private healthcare centers are far ahead of public ones in developing digital services. Many things could also be handled more efficiently in public healthcare by enabling online appointment booking, telemedicine services, and more.
